Mr Charles Li has served as Chief Executive of HKEX since 2010. In this role, Mr Li has orchestrated some of the most significant strategic initiatives in HKEX’s history, including the expansion into fixed income, currency and commodities through the acquisition of the London Metal Exchange in 2012 and the launch of OTC Clear in 2013, as well as enhanced mutual market access with Mainland China through Shanghai and Shenzhen Stock Connect Programmes, Bond Connect and other cooperation.

Mr Li’s career in financial services spans over 20 years. Before joining HKEX, he was Chairman of JP Morgan China, prior to which he was President of Merrill Lynch China. Before joining Merrill Lynch in 1994, Mr Li practiced law in New York with Davis Polk & Wardwell and Brown & Wood.

Before moving to the US for his studies, Mr Li had worked as an offshore oil worker in the North China Sea, and as a newspaper editor-reporter for China Daily from 1984-86.

Mr Li obtained a BA degree in English literature from Xiamen University of China in 1984, a MA degree in journalism from the University of Alabama in 1988, and a JD degree from Columbia University School of Law in 1991.
Byungrhae Lee
Chairman ACG Executive Committee, Chairman and CEO

Mr Byungrhae Lee was appointed Chairman and CEO of Korea Securities Depository on December 23, 2016. Prior to assuming this post, he served as Standing Commissioner of the Securities and Futures Commission, and as Commissioner of the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit.

He began his career in public office at the Ministry of Finance, and went on to hold key positions in the Financial Services Commission, including Director of the Insurance Division, Director of the Financial Policy Division, Spokesperson, and Director General of Banking & Insurance Bureau. In addition to his extensive financial policy experience in the Korean government, he also was Senior Advisor to the Governor of the Bank of Mongolia from 2010 to 2011.

Mr Lee received a B.A. in Economics and an M.A. in Public Administration from Seoul National University. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Shariq NASEEM

Mr Shariq Naseem obtained his Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration (Majors in Marketing) from Hamdard University, Karachi in 1997 and 1998 respectively. He served at the local franchise of Dun & Bradstreet Inc. USA and later joined VIS Group (parent company of JCR-VIS Credit Rating Company) for the establishment of Pakistan’s first consumer & corporate Credit Bureau.

In 2001, he joined the Operations Department of Central Depository Company and served as a core member of the team which successfully launched National Clearing & Settlement System. Later at the Product Development department, he played a lead role in the launch of various important projects including the Automation of Securities Movement, Investment Portfolio Services (IPS), Direct Settlement Mechanism (DSM) and Centralized Information Sharing Solution for Insurance Industry (CISSII). Currently, he is heading the Product Development and Marketing Department.

He has also represented CDC on various international forums such as Asia Pacific Central Securities Depository Group (ACG), International Securities Services Association (ISSA) etc. For the term 2013-2016, he supervised the activities of the ACG Secretariat, contributing in policy making and strategic planning initiatives of the regional association.

Moreover, he represents ACG on the World Forum of CSDs (WFC) which is a global body of depositories. He chaired the Agenda Steering Committee of the WFC 2017 Conference. The Committee was responsible for drafting and finalizing the agenda of the conference and selecting speakers/panelists from all over the world. It had representation from depository associations of the Americas, Africa and Middle East, Europe, Asia and Eurasia.
Keith Lui
Executive Director, Supervision of Markets Division

Mr Keith Lui is a member of the SFC. He is also an Executive Director with responsibility for the Supervision of Markets Division. That Division is responsible for supervising the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited in respect of its trading and clearing activities, authorization of automated trading systems, managing the investor compensation funds and facilitating the development of the securities and futures markets.

Mr Lui has been working in the SFC for over 20 years and has extensive knowledge and experience in the super- vision of the securities and futures markets. Prior to joining the SFC, he worked in financial institutions in the US.

Mr Lui also sits on the Risk Management Committee of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, the Securities Compensation Fund Committee (Chairman), the Investor Compensation Fund Committee (Chairman), the SFC (HKEC Listing) Committee, the Executive Committee and Investment Committee. He is also a director of the Investor Compensation Company Limited.
Wenhua Dai

Dr Wenhua Dai is China’s leading expert in securities post-trading functions and securities market operations. He is the General Manager of CSDC, which serves as the CSD, SSS and CCP of the Chinese stock exchange market. Dr Dai started his career with Shenzhen Stock Exchange, where he served as the Deputy General Manager from October 1994 to March 2012, and joined CSDC in 2001 as Director of the Board and Deputy General Manager. He holds a doctorate degree in Engineering and completed his post-doctoral research at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne (EPFL).

Andreas is an Associate Partner in McKinsey’s Hamburg Office. Since joining the firm in 2007, he has worked for leading global capital markets infrastructure providers & exchanges, international banks, and insurance companies with a regional focus on work in Europe as well as in Emerging Markets countries across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. He is a core member of McKinsey’s Global Capital Markets Infrastructure Providers & Exchanges Practice and its European Financial Institutions Group. Andreas leads our Advanced Analytics in Capital Markets Infrastructure activities. He is a Certified Advanced Analytics Translator.

Before starting at McKinsey, Andreas studied business administration at the University of Mannheim (banking, finance, accounting, auditing) and New York University (econometrics, economics and psychology, corporate finance) and interned with a leading international rating agency (focus financial institutions), an investment bank (market risk), and a leading European asset manager.

He earned a doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) in business administration from the Rheinisch Westfälische Technische Universität Aachen with a thesis on cross-functional integration between marketing and finance departments in innovation processes – while working on his dissertation, he wasa key member of the entrepreneurship center of RWTH Aachen, counselling and working with technologically oriented start-up companies.
Nicholas BONE

Nicholas Bone founded EquiChain in 2016 and currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer. He has over 20 years’ securities services and global banking expertise spanning operations, product development, network management, sales and relationship management, with a specialism in emerging markets.

Bone is known as a thought-leader and strategic thinker on blockchain, Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), capital markets and securities services, having gained broad experience across transaction, investment and central banking.

A prolific public speaker on DLT and the securities industry, his addresses in 2017 include the Africa and Middle East Depository Association (AMEDA) Summit, The Network Forum, FundForum Ops, Middle East Asset Management Forum and the South Africa DLT Working Group. His thought leadership is widely endorsed by media including The Banker, SWIFT’s MI Forum, Global Custodian Magazine, Finextra, Asian Fintech, Banking Technology, Nasdaq, Global Investor and more.

He has previously served at the Bank of England, Deutsche Bank, BNY Mellon and most recently at Standard Chartered Bank as an executive director. Bone was a member of the ISSA working group on DLT and a judge on SWIFT’s Innotribe 2016 DLT Challenge. He is widely considered to be one of the most high-profile senior bankers to willingly walk away from a banking role and into FinTech.
Kelly MATHIESON

Kelly spent twenty-six years at J.P.Morgan Chase and three years at Goldman Sachs. Most recently, Kelly was Head of J.P.Morgan’s Global Collateral Management and Securities Clearing businesses. She was also instrumental in aiding the Federal Reserve Bank of New York with the tri-party repo reforms post-2008. Other roles at J.P.Morgan included Head of Global Custody Product, Head of Online Brokerage Product Asset Management in addition to other product management and marketing positions in Securities Lending, Liquidity Management, Futures and Options Clearing, and FX and Commodities Managed Funds. Kelly also serves on the Susan G Komen - Greater NYC Board.
Robert PALATNICK
Managing Director, Chief Technology Architect

Robert Palatnick is Managing Director and Chief Technology Architect at DTCC, where he has responsibility for the global IT strategy, architecture, standards and engineering design of the systems and applications that support the firm’s broad range of products and services. In addition, he leads DTCC’s technology innovation initiatives, including cloud, automation, big data analytics and distributed ledger technologies and co-sponsors DTCC’s Office of Fintech Strategy.

Before this role, Mr Palatnick held a number of senior technology positions at DTCC including Application Development Domain Lead, Chief Administrative Officer of IT and CIO of FICC. Prior to joining DTCC, Mr Palatnick was Vice President, Development and Systems, at Security Pacific Corporation Sequor Software Services.

An active technology voice in the industry, Mr Palatnick has been a featured guest speaker at key conferences worldwide and is often quoted in the press. He currently serves as a member of the Governing Board of the Linux Foundation’s Hyperledger Project, a collaborative effort to establish, build and sustain an open, distributed ledger platform across industries.

Mr Palatnick received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Buffalo, and is an alumnus of the David Rockefeller fellowship.
Sergey PUTYATINSKIY

Sergey Putyatinskiy is responsible for development of information technologies and fintech in line with the company’s business strategy. He has more than 15 years’ experience in IT and 10 years’ experience in the financial industry. He worked for both bank’s internal IT department and external IT service provider and implemented complex projects related to the automation of Russia’s major banks need, including implementation of front and middle office systems, accounting systems and integrated solutions. Prior to joining NSD Sergey Putyatinskiy, as Vice President and Deputy CIO of OTKRITIE Bank, worked on optimizing the bank’s IT division structure after a number of M&A transactions, elaborating the processes of interactions between the IT division and businesses and developing the outsourcing practice.
Monica SINGER

Monica Singer is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and a Fellow of the Institute of Directors. She is the first CEO of South Africa’s Central Securities Depository (CSD), Strate (Pty) Ltd which she set up in 1998. Strate has grown to provide electronic clearing, settlement and depository. Strate also does the settlement to all the transactions in the new Stock Exchanges that have recently been granted a licence in South Africa. Strate also provides services in Swift, Gateway, corporate actions and investor information.

Today, Strate has grown to a company employing over 170 staff members and is a multiple winner of various categories in the Deloitte’s Best Company to Work For competition over several years and winner of the Conscious Company Award in 2017.

Monica is a motivating speaker not only in Finance, innovation and disruptive technologies but in uplifting woman to realise their full potential. She has been invited in 2017 to serve as a Global Ambassador in the global mentoring of woman leaders in Los Angeles, USA. Monica holds numerous board and advisory positions. She is the Vice President of the African Middle East Regional Association of CSDs (AMEDA) and a member of the World Forum of CSDs (WFC). She is also involved in a number of charitable organisations including Strate Charity Shares and Afrika Tikkun Investment Trust.

Monica previously worked at the World Bank in Washington DC in 1995/96 and was the Technical Director of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) from 1990 to 1996.
R VIVEKANAND

R. Vivekanand (Vivek), is Vice President and Co-Head of TCS Financial Solutions, the financial products business of Tata Consultancy Services. As a part of this role, he is responsible for the realization of strategic initiatives encompassing Cloud, Digital and Blockchain technologies. Vivek is also responsible for business development and market penetration of the TCS BaNCS suite of products, including Sales and Marketing functions. He is the executive owner for key relationships in the Capital Markets line of business.

In the course of his 25-year career with TCS, starting with the Smithsonian award-winning project for the SIX Group, Switzerland, Vivek has played a key role in mission critical implementations in over 25 countries globally. In his previous role, he was responsible for product development and delivery of the Capital Markets solutions under the TCS BaNCS brand. He also led the conceptualization and growth of the TCS BaNCS for Market Infrastructure solution into one of the leaders in the post trade solution space.

In the course of his career with TCS, Vivek has held various horizontal delivery roles that have helped shape TCS’ products business across Banking, Capital Markets and Insurance. He has considerable experience in application software development and management of large turnkey engagements, which he has applied to continuously drive new development models that deliver agility and operational efficiency.

One of the early adopters of Object Technology, he has been a member of the IEEE Computer Society Technical committees on Computer Architecture and Software Engineering.

Vivek holds an M.S, in Electrical Engineering/Information systems from Clemson University, USA. A former University cricketer who also led his High School cricket team, he is an avid traveler, photographer and blogger.
Jorge Hernán JARAMILLO OSSA

Mr Jaramillo has a degree in Business Administration from Javeriana University with a degree on Credit and Finance promoted by Chase Manhattan Bank in Colombia. He has twenty nine years of experience in post trade infrastructure development. He has been a leader in the Strategic Capital Market Infrastructure development, as well as process changes and design to support the Capital Market. He collaborated in the creation, design and implementation of the following financial infrastructure systems in the Colombian Capital Market: He worked one year as Senior Consultant for Andersen Consulting in the financial and capital market practice, related to the development of Securities Infrastructure. He was engaged in 1990 by the Colombian Central Bank (Banco de la Republica de Colombia) to develop the securities administration platform, the central securities depository and the RTGS payment system, projects that were achieved in a three year period.

After that, in 1993, Mr Jaramillo was engaged by DECEVAL as Chief Operating and Information Officer to undertake the development of the Information Technology infrastructure and Operations of the private Central Securities Depository. He was appointed as President in 1998 and since then has dedicated his efforts to introduce best practices within the Colombian Capital Market Post Trading Infrastructure, promoting, among others, the following: Immobilization, Dematerialization, Registrar, DVP settlement and entitlement processing and all related depository services. He is the former ACSDA ́s and WFC Chair. He is also a Board member of The Colombian CCP and active member of the CCP risk committee.

Beverley Furman is the Managing Executive of CSD Operations, a division of Strate (Pty) Limited, a licensed Central Securities Depository in South Africa. The division was established in August 2016 and it encompasses Strate’s Custody and Settlement division, its Project Management Office, its Product Development division, as well as Strate Collateral Management Services.

Prior to this role, she was the Head of Strate Supervision, which she created in 2001 to supervise and monitor the compliance by the CSD Participants with the South African securities legislation, Strate Rules and Directives. Bev has over 17 years’ experience in the financial markets and has presented both locally and internationally on topics ranging from Securities Regulation, risk management, crisis preparedness and securities markets. She completed her Bachelor of Commerce Degree at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, Johannesburg.

Bruce Lawrence, has over 43 years’ securities industry experience, provides consultancy, training, advice and technical assistance specialising on the post-trade arena and development of the capital markets infrastructure of developing and frontier emerging markets. He has consulted and trained on the full spectrum of securities markets instruments, corporate governance, operational risk, custody, clearing & settlement and assisted in the creation and further development of Central Securities Depositories (CSDs), Central Counterparties (CCPs), Stock Exchanges and Domestic Custody Operations. Assignments have taken him to Albania, Ghana, Jordan, Kuwait, Mongolia, Pakistan, Qatar, Nigeria, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

He has held the position post-trade advisor to the Mongolian Stock Exchange & the Mongolian Central Securities Depository, Ulan Bataar, Managing Director of Zenith Pensions Custodian Limited in Lagos, Director of Credit Suisse First Boston in Moscow, The Chase Manhattan Bank in Moscow and London and JP Morgan, London and Brussels. He has also been the author of the Global Custody Workbook and Global Securities Operations, published by the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and is the recipient of the Central Bank of Russia gold medal for services to the creation of the Russian securities market. As Vice President of Securities Services at Nasdaq, Arminta is leading a business unit comprised of seven regulated financial entities: stock exchanges, CSDs and an investment firm based in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Iceland and Sweden, which provide a wide range of exchange and post trade services to the Nordic and Baltic clients. Arminta has spent 20 years in the capital markets in various roles spanning marketing, market data, project management, product development and general management. During 2007-2017, she acted as President of Nasdaq Vilnius and during 2012-2017 as VP, Head of Baltic Markets.

Arminta holds Masters in International Business from the Vilnius University and Executive MBA from the Baltic Management Institute.

Arminta is the board member of the Lithuanian Financial Markets Institute, advisory board member of the BDF, co- founder of women leadership organization “Lydere”. She received Baltic Sea Award 2009 and named the Rising Star of Corporate Governance 2011 by The Millstein Center at the Yale School of Management. In 2017, she was awarded the SSC Business Center Manager of the Year in CEE and State Decorations for the Merits to Lithuania.
Trevor Spanner

Trevor Spanner is the Group Chief Information Officer and Group Risk Officer of HKEX.

Trevor relocated to Hong Kong in January 2016, serving previously as the Chief Operating Officer of HKEX and Chief Executive of LME Clear. He joined The London Metal Exchange (LME) as Head of Post Trade Services in November 2011 and led the design and implementation of the new clearing house for the LME market, LME Clear. Mr Spanner is a Board Member of LME and LME Clear.

Trevor joined LME from EuroCCP - the European clearing house of the DTCC. He played a leading part in the development and launch of the clearing house, and as Chief Operating Officer he was responsible for its day-to-day business operation. EuroCCP was hugely influential in the reshaping of the clearing landscape following MiFID 1, and continues to be a major participant in post trade development in Europe.

Prior to EuroCCP Trevor held senior executive positions in with Merrill Lynch, UBS and Deutsche Bank, responsible for delivery of global clearing & settlement services for equities, FX, securities and exchange traded derivatives. In these roles he additionally led and successfully implemented a number of key strategic projects and technology platforms. Trevor holds a BA (Hons) degree from the University of Kent and is a Chartered Accountant (ACA).
Dan THIEKE
Managing Director and General Manager, Settlement and Asset Services

Dan Thieke is Managing Director and General Manager for Settlement and Asset Services at DTCC, responsible for overseeing services for these businesses globally and driving the strategic development of key company initiatives such as its corporate actions transformation effort, dematerialization of physical securities, and leading continued structural changes to the U.S. settlement processes.

Dan currently serves as a member of DTCC’s Operating Committee, and Management Risk Committee. He is also an Executive Committee member of the Americas’ Central Securities Depositories Association (ACSDA) and an active member of the Securities Industry Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Capital Markets Committee.

Prior to this role, Dan served as Managing Director for DTCC’s Asset Services business responsible for various products and services including: underwriting, securities processing, corporate actions processing, issuer services and global tax services.

Dan earned a Bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame and holds a Masters of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Henry CHANG

Dr Henry Chang is a Senior Manager at the Fintech Facilitation Office (FFO) of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. Henry contributes to some strategic projects of the FFO such as Open API and the legal aspects of Distributed Ledger Technology research. He also oversees international collaboration agreements.

Before joining the HKMA, Henry was the IT Advisor at the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data advising the Privacy Commissioner and his office on technological developments and their impacts on privacy. Henry’s past experience also includes being the head of spam regulation in the telecommunications authority helping the drafting of the anti-spam law and the design of the Do Not Call registers.

Henry is a fellow of the British Computer Society and a Chartered Engineer. He holds industry certifications on IT security and privacy. He is an adjunct associate professor at the Law and Technology Centre at the University of Hong Kong.
Joydeep DUTTA

Mr Joydeep Dutta is the Executive Director and Group CTO at CDSL, India’s leading central securities depository. In addition to the core depository services business, some of the other major CDSL group businesses include e-Voting services for companies, academic depository for educational institutions, e-KYC services through UIDAI’s Aadhaar, PAN based KYC services for capital market intermediaries (banks/brokers/MFs), insurance repository services for life/general insurance companies, GSP/ASP services for Goods and Services Tax filing and the soon to be launched commodity repository business. The businesses are through CDSL and its subsidiary companies CDSL Ventures, CDSL Insurance Repository and CDSL Commodity Repository.

Eddie ASTANIN

With more than 20 years in the financial industry, Eddie Astanin has achieved numerous goals, including developing financial products in the Moscow Exchange Group and creating Russia’s central securities depository on the basis of National Settlement Depository (NSD), as well as building global financial infrastructure on behalf of Russia, as its first representative on SWIFT’s Board of Directors.

In 2012, NSD was granted central securities depository status, and in 2014, the Bank of Russia recognized it as a systemically important financial market organization. NSD has implemented numerous innovative projects such as corporate actions reform. It was aimed at implementing the newest technologies and international standards based on exchanging electronic documents.

In 2016, key legislative changes went into effect and Corporate Information Center (CIC) functions were assigned to NSD, and to provide CIC solutions. Eddie Astanin contributed to the widespread implementation of the ISO 20022 format by Russian and international financial institutions.

In August 2014, NSD introduced e-proxy voting. In April 2016, it was successfully tested with regard to bondholder meetings. NSD actively implements e-voting launched in 2017.

NSD became a member of Hyperledger, an international consortium, and organized a global CSD consortium focused on researching and developing FinTech solutions. NSD’s goal is to become the Russian market utility offering IT outsourcing to infrastructural organizations. NSD already works as the SWIFT shared connection providing full access to all SWIFT services and is responsible for global network interactions.

Tim Hogben is the Chief Operating Officer of the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). ASX as a company ranks amongst the top 10 exchange groups in the world. Appointed to the role in 2015, Tim has overall responsibility for the live service environment at ASX. This incorporates compliance with licensing conditions, execution of the organisations business strategy and delivering service excellence to customers. In addition to this he has responsibility for providing clearing and settlement services to Chi-X Australia, National Stock Exchange (NSX) and Asia Pacific Exchange (APX).

He has a thorough understanding of the operational, technical and regulatory complexities that drive trading, clearing and settlement from both a stock exchange and market user perspective. This has been formed through considerable experience in service delivery, operational workflows, system development, control environments and managing "1 in 20 year" events, plus roles as an investment accountant, senior analyst and in general management with a number of financial institutions in Australia.

More recently Tim has been exploring next generation technologies such as digital assets, distributed ledgers and block chain for potential use in financial services.

Tim is a graduate of the Harvard Business School (HBS), Australia Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Australian Institute of Management (AIM) and Financial Services Institute of Australia (FINSIA).

Gokce Iliris is a securities services and international relations professional with approximately 15 years of work experience in capital markets. Gokce has several publications on securities and custody operations, Turkish securities markets and leadership and management in local and international magazines such as ISS MAG and Asset Servicing Times.

Gokce holds a BS degree in Economics (2001) and MBA in Management Sciences (2003) from the top universities in Turkey. After his tenure at Citigroup/Citibank Turkey as the Operations Manager, he moved to MKK (the CSD of Turkey) appointed as the Head of International Relations in 2012. Maria Krasnova is the Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of NSD responsible for Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Market Analysis, Legal Matters and Client Relations and Network Management. Ms Krasnova has achieved numerous managerial goals, including successful merger of two Russian settlement depositories - NSD and Depository Clearing Company (DCC). She currently has immediate responsibility for the ongoing Corporate Actions Reform - one of the key areas for development in the Russian financial market. Jim Micklethwaite manages the Capital Markets Infrastructure division of Thomas Murray Data Services and has over 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Jim has led various rating projects for CSDs and strategic consulting projects on market infrastructure. She is a lawyer by background and holds a multidisciplinary Master in Law and Economics and a Master in European law. Anna started her career at the general secretariat of one of the political parties at the European Parliament.

During the past nine years, she has gathered an extensive experience of the CSD industry. She was responsible for internal outsourcing and for an assurance statement on the risk and control framework of an International CSD. From 2010 and until recently, Anna worked for Strategy and Government Relations of Euroclear group and is an expert in the CSD regulatory environment. During her career, she has also advised an Asian regulator and its CSD on the infrastructure changes allowing international investors to access the market and gave lectures on international financial regulation to university students.

John Siena, based in London, is Assistant General Counsel at Brown Brothers Harriman where he heads Asia-Pacific Legal and supports Regulatory Strategy. John previously headed BBH’s EMEA legal function (2005-2011).

John has 27 years of experience as a financial services lawyer: in addition to BBH, John has worked for the Bank of New York Mellon, where he was Head of External and Regulatory Affairs, EMEA, and Northern Trust, where he supported the investment management and global custody business lines in EMEA and the U.S. John was located in the U.S. until 2000, after which he relocated to the UK (interrupted with a 2016 stint in Hong Kong).

John currently chairs the European Focus Committee, Association of Global Custodians (AGC) (2011-present) and represents BBH to the International Securities Services Association (ISSA). John previously chaired the Legal Committee (Post-Trade) of the Association of Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) (2011-2014) and was a member of AFME’s Prudential Regulation Board (2011-2014), ISSA’s Operating Committee (2013-14) and was a Member of the European Central Bank’s “T2S Task Force on Settlement Finality” (2013).

John has authored or co-authored articles in numerous publications, position papers and submissions to government authorities relating to legal aspects of post-trade matters and investment funds, especially under EU legislation and in connection with global initiatives. Urs Stähli joined Union Bank of Switzerland (predecessor of UBS AG) as apprentice in 1969, where he stayed until his retirement in fall 2012. During his 43-year career, Urs Stähli worked predominantly for Securities Services and Collateral Loans and assumed various assignments in Switzerland and abroad.

For the past 15 years, he coordinated UBS external mandates in Securities Services related industry associations and initiatives, the last 10 years as Managing Director. He was also leading the ISSA Secretariat.

Urs Stähli retired from UBS to found his own advisory company.
Walter VERBEKE

Walter Verbeke is Director and Global Head of Strategic Planning for the Euroclear group. As such, he is a senior executive in the Product, Strategy and Innovation Division of the group.

Mr Verbeke is responsible for providing guidance to the group’s overall positioning and strategic business de- velopment opportunities. He is responsible for the corporate strategy, strategic partnerships, and delivery of the innovation initiatives.
Mr Verbeke joined Euroclear in 2004 from McKinsey & Co. where he was senior strategic business consultant in the finance, payments, transport and telecommunications industries. Overall, he brings 30+ years of professional experience.

Mr Verbeke holds a Masters’ degree in Law with honours, specialising in Law and Economics, European Union, international, and Administrative Law, in addition to complementary Bachelors’ studies in Applied Economics. He is fluent in several languages and is passionate about history and the arts.
Glenn GOUCHER

Glenn Goucher is President of the Canadian Depository for Securities Limited (CDS), Canada’s national securities depository, clearing and settlement hub for equity, fixed income and money markets. Mr Goucher is also President and Chief Clearing Officer of the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation (CDCC), a position he has held since August 2009. Prior to this, he held several progressively senior positions with Bourse de Montreal including Senior Vice-President, Financial Markets since November 2001. Before joining the Montreal Exchange, he held positions with a major Canadian Bank in a variety of business development and management roles, and with a Canadian pension plan as a fixed income portfolio manager.
Rose MAMBO

Rose Mambo is the Chief Executive at CDSC and is responsible for strategic leadership of the corporation and corporate governance. She has steered the company to achieve a number of key milestones including a T+3 settlement cycle, full dematerialization of the market, several large successful IPOs, and improved efficiency and risk management in the settlement function of the corporation with a Guarantee Fund value that has grown over five times since she joined CDSC in 2007. Under her stewardship, CDSC has grown to accommodate over 2 million CDS accounts, while the company’s financial performance has significantly improved with profit before tax growing fourteen times whilst net assets increased four times from their respective levels in 2007. With her leadership, CDSC has transitioned to a brand that is more customer-centric in product and service offering, and is successfully managing the Register of the M- Akiba bond, a pioneer mobile bond in the world.

Rose holds an MBA from Strathmore University, a Master of Laws degree from the American University in Washington DC specializing in international business law and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi. She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya. Rose has worked as a State Counsel at the Attorney General’s Office and at the Nairobi Securities Exchange as Company Secretary and Head of Legal and Compliance.
Ivan NICORA

Ivan Nicora was appointed CEO Euroclear Bank Hong Kong Branch and Regional Head of Asia Pacific in Year 2015, overseeing Euroclear’s offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo, with responsibility for all of Euroclear’s business activities and clients in the Asia-Pacific region.

Prior to this appointment, he was head of Product Management for Investment Funds and International Markets with prime responsibility for all related Euroclear product strategy and developments.

Ivan has more than 25 years of experience in the financial industry, joining Euroclear in 1990, working in tax operations, custody services and risk management. He holds a degree in Commercial Engineering from the Solvay Business School (Belgium).
Calvin Tai

Mr Tai is the Joint Chief Operating Officer, Managing Director and Head of Clearing. He heads up the clearing and risk management of securities, derivatives and OTC clearing business of HKEX in Hong Kong. He is also the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Securities Clearing Company Limited and OTC Clearing Hong Kong Limited.

Before moving to clearing business, Mr Tai was Co-Head of Equities, Fixed Income and Currency in Global Markets Division and before that the Head of Trading Division of HKEX overseeing trading operations, product and business development for equities, fixed income and currency markets.

Mr Tai joined the Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited, before its merger with the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong, as the Head of Products in 1998. Before joining the Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited, he served the banking industry in Hong Kong and held various management positions in ABN-Amro Bank N.V., HSBC and Royal Bank of Canada. Mr Tai holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree from the University of Hong Kong.
Fanny Wong

Graduated from the University of Hong Kong, Ms Wong acquired her MBA degree from the Heriot-Watt University. As a seasoned banker with more than 25 years of experience in the industry, she is currently the Director of The Hong Kong Trustees’ Association and also a Member of the Products Advisory Committee of the Securities and Futures Commission. She had been invited by the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited to be a member of its Clearing Consultative Panel for 3 years. She also participates in and contributes to the initiatives of the Hong Kong Custodian Bank Working Group and the SWIFT National Market Practice Group in Hong Kong. At the moment, she is the non-executive director of a few BOC Group companies as well as a charitable foundation.

Ms Wong has been working for over 20 years in worldwide custody, securities and fund service areas to serve institutional, corporate and public sector clients, etc. Most of her career life was spent with Standard Chartered and also Citigroup. In early 2007, she joined BOCHK to lead the development of its global custody business, and to build its local and global custody servicing platforms for institutional and corporate clients from scratch. BOCHK now services more than US$110 billion of assets under custody and has won a no. of industry accolades in this connection. Ms Wong has also been granted a personal specialist award by The Asset magazine as the “Custodian Banker of the Year – Hong Kong” in 2015.

Her other professional qualifications include Type 1 (dealing in securities) and Type 4 (advising on securities) licenses of the SFC, and Associate Membership of The Chartered Institute of Bankers (UK) and The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers.
Jean DESAGNE

Jean Desgagne is President and CEO, TMX Global Solutions, Insights and Analytics Strategies and a member of TMX Group’s Executive Committee. He is responsible for implementing and overseeing a cohesive approach to delivering innovative, client-driven technology and data solutions. Jean’s mandate is to enrich the overall TMX client experience across the capital markets community by providing ready access to market data, benchmark data and analytics products. Jean’s team also works in collaboration with each of TMX’s business areas to develop and deliver tailored solutions and strategies that benefit the organization at large.

Prior to this role, Mr Desgagne led TMX Global Enterprise Services, a shared service organization accountable for Technology, Information Security, Enterprise Risk Management, Integrated Operations, Project Management, Vendor management and Innovation services for TMX that also included oversight of Canada’s two systemically important clearing houses.

Mr Desgagné joined CDS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of TMX Group, as President & CEO in 2013. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President, Trading Risk Services, at TD Bank, responsible for the independent oversight of valuation, market risk, liquidity and collateral for TD’s global trading business. Prior to TD Bank, he held increasingly senior positions at some of Canada’s leading financial institutions including Bank of Montreal and Union Bank of Switzerland (Canada) in areas such as treasury operations, technology, trading support and risk management.

Mr Desgagné is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and a graduate of the University of Ottawa.
Josef LANDOLT

Josef Landolt started work in 1979 for UBS and stayed exclusively with this institution until he officially retired in 2012. More than 20 years he held the leadership for UBS’ Securities Services activities. He represented the firm in local and international securities industry organizations like the domestic CSD (SIX SIS), Swift and Clearstream as a securities expert or as a Board Member. He was also the Chairman of ISSA (International Securities Services Association (ISSA) for more than 20 years.

Since 2012 Josef is an independent Consultant for the Securities Services Industry. In this role he keeps a couple of industry mandates which currently include to be the CEO of ISSA (International Securities Services Association), to be a Member of the Clearstream International Advisory Board and to be a Board Member of SIX SIS and SIX x-clear which comprises also the responsibility to chair the Risk Committee for SIX x-clear. Since 2015 he is also the chair of the Strategic Advisory Board of SIX Securities Services.

Josef Landolt is a graduate in Economics and Banking of the graduate school of Business Economics, Law and Sciences, St. Gallen (Switzerland).

Josef is married with Sonia since 1979 and they have one daughter (Tamara).
Byungrhae Lee

Mr Byungrhae Lee was appointed Chairman and CEO of Korea Securities Depository on December 23, 2016. Prior to assuming this post, he served as Standing Commissioner of the Securities and Futures Commission, and as Commissioner of the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit.

He began his career in public office at the Ministry of Finance, and went on to hold key positions in the Financial Services Commission, including Director of the Insurance Division, Director of the Financial Policy Division, Spokesperson, and Director General of Banking & Insurance Bureau. In addition to his extensive financial policy experience in the Korean government, he also was Senior Advisor to the Governor of the Bank of Mongolia from 2010 to 2011.

Mr Lee received a B.A. in Economics and an M.A. in Public Administration from Seoul National University. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Lieve MOSTREY

Since January 2017, Lieve Mostrey has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and is Chairperson of the Euroclear Group Management Committee and an Executive Director of the Board.

Ms Mostrey joined Euroclear in October 2010 as Executive Director and Chief Technology & Services Officer of the Euroclear Group. Ms Mostrey is also a member of the Supervisory Board and of the Nomination and Governance Committee and Chairperson of the Remuneration Committee of Euronext.

Previously, Ms Mostrey was a member of the Executive Committee of BNP Paribas Fortis in Brussels, where she was responsible for IT technology, operations (including securities, payments, credit cards, mortgages, clients and accounts), property and purchasing. Ms Mostrey began her career in 1983 within the IT department of Generale Bank in Brussels, moving to Operations in 1997 and, upon its merger with Fortis in 2006, became country manager for Fortis Bank Belgium. She became Chief Operating Officer of Fortis Bank in 2008, which was acquired by BNP Paribas in 2009.

Ms Mostrey was previously a Non-Executive Director of SWIFT, RealDolmen, Visa Europe and of Euroclear. Having earned a degree in civil engineering from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 1983, Ms. Mostrey completed a post- graduate degree in economics from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 1988.
Alain Raes

Alain Raes was appointed as Head of the EMEA region of SWIFT in September 2007 and added the role of Chief Executive Asia Pacific in January 2013. He is based in Singapore. Alain was previously Director of the Continental Europe region at SWIFT, covering securities and banking sales activities and spending time in Paris as well as Brussels.

Alain joined SWIFT in 1990, following previous roles at Citibank in Belgium and Fortis Bank in Singapore. During his extensive career in marketing and sales in the financial services industry Alain has achieved great success in developing international business across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, and he has particular expertise in the area of financial market infrastructures.

Alain is married and has three children. He is a Belgian.
Jeffrey TESSLER

Jeffrey Tessler has been a Member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Börse AG since he joined Deutsche Börse Group in October 2004. He is responsible for the Clients, Products & Core Markets division that combines derivatives trading businesses, the clearing houses as well as the settlement and custody business of Deutsche Börse.

After having served as Chief Executive Officer of Clearstream since December 2004, Mr Tessler became Chairman of the Boards of Directors of Clearstream in October 2015. He is a member of the Supervisory Board of Eurex Clearing AG and Vice-Chairman of both the Supervisory Board of Eurex Frankfurt AG and the Board of Directors of Eurex Zürich AG.

Jeffrey Tessler is a member of the Board of Directors of the Luxembourg Banker’s Association (ABBL) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the trade repository REGIS-TR, a joint venture between Clearstream and Iberclear, Spain. He is also a member of the Supervisory Board of China Europe International Exchange AG and of the Global Future Council on Financial and Monetary Systems of the World Economic Forum.
